3. What we collect
- Host applicants: full name, phone number, email, password, and your SA ID number — the ID is only used to verify you are 18 or older and is never stored.
- Hosts: your event details, uploaded posters, and event links.
- All users: basic preferences (like province and town) stored locally on your own device — not on our servers.
4. Your SA ID number
When you apply to become a host, we check your SA ID to confirm you are 18 or older. Once we have verified it, we discard it immediately. We do not keep a copy, we do not store it, and we cannot retrieve it later.
5. Cookies and local storage
We use your browser's local storage to remember your last filters (province, town, campus). This data never leaves your device and can be cleared at any time by clearing your browser data.
6. How we use your data
- To let you log into your host account
- To let admins review and approve host applications
- To display your events to users in the relevant area
- To respond to you when you email us
7. Sharing
We do not sell your data. We only share what is necessary with:
- Admins of THE WEEKEND reviewing host applications
- Legal authorities, if we are required by law
8. Your rights
Under POPIA you have the right to:
- Ask what data we have about you
- Ask us to correct or delete your data
- Object to how we use your data
- Complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa)

9. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information. However, no online service can guarantee 100% security, and you use the platform at your own risk.
